This particular fanlisting is dedicated to Cathy, our shoe loving, single, career woman who has been a part of our lives for nearly 30 years. Cathy first appeared in press on November 22nd, 1976. Cathy Guisewite first drew her namesake in her journal, then they wound up in letters to Cathy's mother who was the one that urged Cathy to submit her sketches for publication and the rest is history.

In addition to her publications, in 1987, Cathy Guisewite received an Emmy for "Outstanding Animated Program" for her first animated special, "Cathy". Cathy is the recipient of numerous awards such as the prestigious Reuben Award for "Outstanding Cartoonist of the Year" from the National Cartoonists Society in 1993.

Cathy was the first widely syndicated comic strip featuring a female by a female cartoonist. Today, Cathy can be read in more than 1,400 newspapers worldwide.
